Fever is one of the symptoms of Avian Flu (Bird Flu), Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV). With increased worldwide travel and the need for continuity of operations an Avian Flu pandemic could wreak havoc on a company's ability to continue operations. A method to quickly and efficiently screen out potential flu carriers becomes very important. For multilingual guidelines and extensive reference information, visit Fever Screening.
An Infrared based system, the Meditherm 520, is a tool that permits rapid temperature screening of large numbers of people. The Meditherm 520 was born out of the SARs outbreak several years ago. Its design goal was straightforward. It needed to provide a system that was "turnkey", could quickly scan an individual, determine his/her temperature and provide an alarm if their temperature was above a preset threshold.
The goal was achieved. The 520 system provides fast, accurate measurements 24/7. It is able to automatically compensate for changes in ambient conditions and it requires little or no interaction from the operator other than powering it on or off.
The system is comprised of a rugged, compact IR camera, a computer and display, threshold detection software, camera stand and wall mounting bracket.
